Amanda Cabralda is a Canadian-born vocalist and educator based in Metro Vancouver. With a musical background in choral, classical, and contemporary settings, her contralto register and unique vocal phrasing ultimately feel most at home when singing jazz. Her studies with Capilano University’s Jazz Performance/Composition BMus program further developed her devotion for jazz and Black American Classical Music.
Amanda’s passion for lyrical interpretation, hard-hitting swing, and the Great American Songbook is evident in her performances, which seek to honour iconic jazz vocalists such as Sarah Vaughan, Etta Jones, and Lorez Alexandria. She has a particular interest in music from the 1910s-1930s and seeks to revive lesser known repertoire by re-arranging and re-interpreting these songs in a straight-ahead jazz setting. Amanda has experience leading groups in restaurants, bars, and jazz venues as well as for corporate, municipal, and private events.
